Fela Party - Without Me

| | TrackBacks (0)

How is it that my girl Lynne d Johnson can go to a Fela birthday party without even telling me? PLUS, I heard that Wunmi performed!!! Lynne, my sister! *beats chest!*

Today, I sent my invitations to next week's grand opening of Axum. Damn if it wasn't difficult! Guess I need a real ISP ...

The Last Of The Merlot

| | TrackBacks (0)

I'm having the last of the merlot that was in my fridge. I guess I should make something to eat but I don't feel like scrubbing the crust out of the pot that once contained one of Gordon's "creations" ...

I'm going to begin a new conversation with myself about planning my life. I do not want to live like this 10 years from now - hell, not even 5 years from now - but if I could just make it out of this rut right now, I'll be doing alright.

My party begins next week!

Triflin' Blogger That I've Been

| | TrackBacks (0)

I know - it's VURY triflin' when you have like 15 different ways to post to your blog and you don't. I have been a little busy, though - showing up at GMAD more (for different reasons) and trying to get my party off the ground. Fighting that insidious depression ... y'all know how it is. It's something to rise above.

Last night after taking some more photos at Sosinna's, I hopped on the C to Franklin Avenue to go to my buddy Derek's housewarming party. Definitely some potential husbands there, but conversation was really difficult. It was cold out (after teasing us with 80 degree weather just a couple of days ago!) and everybody seemed a little tired. I didn't make it to Langston's either; I just got back on the train and headed back up to Harlem ...

Jonathan Capehart is a successful journalist. The entire editorial team of the Daily News was awarded the Pulitzer in 1999, but Mr. Capehart is credited for leading the intense investigation of fraud and mismanagement of Harlem's Apollo Theatre. His investigation culminated into a series of editorials that showcased his skills as a world-class reporter and journalist. This series did not, however, lead to the indictment of anyone accused. Mr. Capehart has sat on and chaired a variety of panels for organizations including Empire State Pride Agenda, PrideFest and the The National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. Now Mr. Capehart is busy campaigning for Michael Bloomberg's run for the Mayor's office. He also happens to be Black and gay.

PowerMac on the 3 Express

| | TrackBacks (0)

So far, this has been an interesting morning. I rode the 3 train with my PowerMac and got lots of stares - and a compliment! I'm here at Tekserve now, hoping that the techs here can figure out what's going on with my Ethernet port. My Earthlink DSL modem is coming soon and I have to be ready. I finally sent out an e-mail about starting our MUG. I hope people respond ...

Hanging On

"Hang on to the world as it spins around. Just don't let the spin get you down ..." Tryin' real hard to live by those words right now ... *sigh*

The Queens of Comedy

"Girl, I don't know what to tell you. I'll get you the DVD when it comes out, but you not going to the mothafuckin' picture show!" Hmmm, I kinda know what Mo'nique is talking about right now ...

Teach Zerosept and Gordon spent the night hanging out at my house. This morning, Gordon discovered what a crazy driver Zerosept is - chile, he was holding on to the dashboard! *LOL!* Zerosept and I hooked up with Philippe later at Day-O for brunch (which I HIGHLY recommend) and, um, scintillating conversation.

iMac Hookup

I'm here at Philippe's house making his iMac SWEEET!!! I need to go home soon, though, because I'm having a guest ...

Miss Robinson Saved My Life

| | TrackBacks (0)

I'd like to thank my ancestor Miss Vicki Sue Robinson for bringing "Turn The Beat Around" to the rescue - when all hope was fading fast. The Tragedy has truly erased my income and I'm trying not to be so depressed about it that I'm rendered useless to do anything about it. *sigh* Well, Miss Robinson truly saved me today. This whole experience makes me think of how much I depend on myself to survive and maintain some semblance of sanity. Whatever works ...

Leave Aaron Alone

It figures that Aaron McGruder would be catchin' heat for The Boondocks - it has NEVER been a strip to be taken lightly, and it sure isn't now. If your local newspaper is stupid and doesn't feature it, go here.

You know, I'm starting to warm to Mac OS X - especially now that I can use my new peripherals in Classic mode after installing 10.1. I've also gotten responses from Canon and Epson about supporting my scanner and printer. PLUS, now that MacSatellite X actually works in 10.1, I can get stuff from audiogalaxy.com. Very cute - very sexy ...

5{lly quite simple to use BlogScript. All you have to do is copy a block of text from any application. Then, select BlogScript from the Script Menu as shown below, and your text will be automatically posted to your weblog."

*sigh* I tried filing for unemployment today thinking that the State of New York would make special concessions for me since my job was displaced because of The Tragedy, but I'll be on the 1 and 2s very very soon ... plus, I've been brushing up on my Flash. Stay tuned.

Hanging Tough with Philippe

| | TrackBacks (0)

Philippe and I hung out with Teach Zerosept and Kenny yesterday; we dined at Day-O, pranced at Together In Spirit and kikied with Miss Harmonica Sunbeam (and Sheila Noxema) at Escuelita! I ran into Damian last night, too - we had a great time! But po' folk need to stay home, so Philippe and Gordon are hanging out with me at my place today! Philippe is making us the ONLY lunch - oh, it smells fabulous! And Gordon, well, he's feeling VERY Pisces ...
