Cleaning House & Re-emerging

I'm in the middle of totally cleaning my home up from top to bottom. Honey las cucarachas are trying to take OVER! I think it has something to do with the apartment above me being vacant so long after James passed away - I never really had a problem with roaches before! I guess they thought they could take advantage of my financial distress by multiplying gleefully, so now I'm letting these bitches HAVE IT! RAID!!! *Pssssst!!!* Die, you bitches!!! It's been a WONDERFUL outlet for the minute remnants of rage that I still harbour ... and The Spray is just my first line of defense. Next up (once Brahma is gone) are The Fumigators. Then I will TRULY have my home to myself!

So, I'm in the process of taking stuff out of cabinets and wiping down everything with lots of Clorox and Breath O' Pine. I really want to throw away a lot of stuff AGAIN. Earlier this year, in the spirit of the New Year, I threw away a LOT of stuff and I'm feeling that again. I'm a stereotypical Piscean packrat holding on to an assortment of papers, cassette tapes, floppy disks, CDs, clothes, electronic accessories and other stuff that I just don't need and will never need again. I need to be slapped and I need to let go. So, I'm letting go and making room for all the wonderful ideas I have to beautify (and organize) my home.

Between bouts of roach war and pulling stuff down, I have been celebrating my new job all weekend! On Friday night, I hung out with Bernard, Pypau, Brian and Marc at Day-O! The Friday night crowd is comprised of us Black gay men looking dressy, well-groomed - and available. (Keith stopped by later, too!) I've been such a recluse lately; looking cute hasn't really been that important to me. I'm going to change that and have men clamoring to be up in my face once again. Well, again. Well ... you know! Take Marc, for instance. I'm physically attracted to him, but he doesn't see me. I think maybe if I did my hair and got rid of these crooked-ass, coke-bottle glasses that maybe he would. Well, at least I'd be able to see his reaction - damned glasses! So, after two Summer Chills, I stumbled back uptown to my Harlem abode.

After the batizado yesterday, I ran into Garry on the train coming home! I hadn't seen him in years! He lives in my area, so I dragged him over to Settipani for some gelato. There, we ran into Ernest, Greg and Carlos, who were on their way out. Ernest (another man I find attractive who doesn't see me *pout*) invited me to a house party in the neighborhood later that evening. Those are ALWAYS cute! So after gelato with Garry, I flew home to get ready. In the middle of my swerve, Michael rings my buzzer and invites me over for cake. I agree and go back to my swerve and Gordon stops by. So, we went over to Michael's to say hello to Mrs. Dolly and Mr. Wirth. I bidded them adieu and bolted.

I flew to Pioneer to get something so I wouldn't show up empty-handed. (I settled on a bottle of lemon Perrier and a 6-pack of Bacardi Silver, which for some reason isn't featured on their website. Hmmmm ...) Garry and I then hooked back up with Ernest, Greg and Carlos and headed over to this guy John's house. I met John (who I'm attracted to, but ...) and he has a beautiful, spacious apartment! Lots of original Alvin Ailey posters autographed by Ms. Jamison herself! Wow! He also has a poster of Diana Ross as Josephine Baker - before HBO snatched Lynn Whitfield for it! There were a couple of gentleman that caught my eye, but one stands out.

Our eyes met as soon as he walked into the door. (I guess these damned glasses didn't get in the way of THAT! *grin!*) I was feeling shy and awkward - I hadn't shaven and I wasn't THAT dressed-up, but I got over that and finally positioned myself into a conversation with him. He told me that his name was Dwayne and I immediately thought of my sister Duane, who fell in love with his husband Regi at first sight. I wondered about that as Dwayne and I chatted about Macs, web design and Harlem for a bit before deciding to exchange contact information. I got two hugs out of it and they SURE felt right - he's tall and thick! Just the way I like it. And he has a beautiful smile. Anyway, we are supposed to hook up today to continue our exchange.

So, here we are, back in the thick of Mount Morris High Society! YAY!

*pulls out beauty embellishments!* It's time to beat!
