I Said We're Movin' On Up

Last year, I took my PowerMac G4 (I'm thinking about naming her Uhura) on the 2 train downtown to see if the guys at Tekserve could fix my Ethernet port. No such luck - AND they couldn't successfully install another (Asante) card either. So I took it back home. I couldn't afford DSL anymore anyway ... you know, post 9/11 blah blah blah, dyba dyba dyba ...

Well, y'all know about this new job I got, so last week I went back to Da Plantation and ordered Verizon DSL again. Got the modem on Wednesday. So yesterday, despite MUCH trepidation, I took another leap of faith and bought this Ethernet card. Ordered the card at 3am, picked it up at 12 noon, installed it at 2pm and was online by 2:15pm (in OS 9.x - it took another half an hour to download the OS X driver and feel my way around my Network settings). This has truly done wonders for my ego! (Apple Store NYC, are you listening?) *chucks AOL account*

Now, I'm ready. I can pull away from Uhura for a while and tend to my real life with the sounds of Me'Shell wafting through it. (I have Keith to thank for that! *hug!* Oh, J. reviewed the hell out of it, too ...)

Hmmm, new job, DSL, new CD, pumped ego, a new friend ... apparently the end of this reclusive lifestyle is near! That means that I'm going to have to go outside more. That means that I'm going to have to BEAT! I love to hit the street lookin' good and feelin' good. Stay tuned for all the exhaustive details ...

P.S. My mother and stepfather will touch down in Kenya this morning, if they haven't already. Please send them your love.
