I took some time out from work yesterday and headed downtown to hang out until Touré's 7pm reading @ Housingworks Used Book Café. I don't like SoHo, but I went back to the Apple Store. I discovered that there are TWO Sister Genii! WORK! I played with stuff, including a digital camera that I'd like to purchase soon. Stacey, one of my favorite people on the Apple Store staff, took a picture of me yesterday but the Internet wasn't working on that machine, for some reason. *pout!* Anyway, I bought something cheap just to have one of those cool bags with the Apple logo. Such a show-off!
Soon after, I made my way towards the spot. Housingworks Café has changed a lot since the last time I was there - about 5 years ago - the gentle touches of renovation make it a cute and literate date spot. I, air-conditioned frozen in my tank top, noticed that the reading hadn't begun until almost 7:20pm. Finally, Touré read his stuff. I'm not feeling him or his material. I didn't get any sense of spiritual connectedness from him. No love. To explain, I'd have to really talk about it more than I want to.
Khary was in the back, so as soon as brother Touré was done, I got up and chatted with him. Now THIS brother is the writer! Can't wait to read HIS books! We went for some grub at Dojo's and chatted for a couple of hours. He's a wonderful man - and a cutie, too. It's kinda strange when I think about being 7 years older than he is and remembering what life was like for me at his age. I think he's much more disciplined and focused than I am today.
My parcels felt really heavy as I toted them down 8th Street for the 3 express train. Khary bid me adieu at 6th Avenue and walked back down 8th Street to go to work. I crossed the street and ran into my friend Alix Alvarez, that fresh new DJ/remixer/producer that everybody's talking about. But I own him. *grin!* He knows! He's spinning at Filter 14 on Fridays now. He's truly working his beat and it warms my heart. He's another youngun - I think he's 25 as well.

The Sims, huh? Chuckles What a way to hang downtown!!
don’t say you hate soho until you’ve had drinks on the roof of 60 Thompson. If you still hate soho after that, i’m at a loss for words.
Oh yeah, and tell me how that sims goes, i might add it to my wishlist.
