Oprah is the inspiration for this entry. Check out this month's issue of O, The Oprah Magazine; this month's theme is Home. Darrell and I watched a bit of Oprah on Monday as she generously bestowed her audience with all of her favorite things this year. I know when Darrell saw that Kiehl's Limited Edition Gift Box come across the table, he could've just spit!!! *LOL!*
But my list is a little different. These are five lavish gifts that I'm giving to myself. My first gift is home.
Creating the sanctuary called home
I think I've always been a slob. Yeah, sometimes I have lapses - occasionally making my space TOO clean to live in - but usually it's a real mess, like it is now. My kitchen is the only bright spot; I've been using it a lot more since I started working out again and it is kept tidy. My bathroom? Well, I use the locker room at the gym more.
I've known for a while now that your home is probably reflective of what's going on in your head - be it peace or chaos. Although, in my case, it looks more like the latter, I really feel at home here. I feel comfortable. However, I DO know that I do not enjoy my home as I could. All this clutter and disorganization doesn't allow it. That, coupled with procrastination, can mean piles that don't move for weeks and meeting family, friends, dates and potential clients in spaces other than my own.
So, today, this very day, I give myself the sumptuous home that lies beneath the piles. Today, I pick them up and reveal a home that looks as peaceful as it is - to relax in it, to revel in it and to rejuvenate.

Okay. So you’re posting these 5 things separately?
Yes, dearheart …
I’m glad to see that your hiatus was short lived … I’ll be waiting on your list.
Actually, Antonio, that’s not true. I’m gearing up for it.
donald: everything you wrote in paragraph 2 beginning “i’ve known for a while now” reflects everything i’ve been experiencing regarding my own home. I too am promising to reveal the home beneath the clutter, reflective of Iylanla’s In the Meantime, i.e., physically doing the work from the ground up! Another Vanzant quote leading me to a cleaning frenze is “there is no way goodness, abundance, and success can come to you if your affairs are not in order.” (Acts of Faith; December 1)
