Saturday In Two Brooklyn Parks

with Tim'm T. West at Indigo Books for Black Pride's Book Signing

I FINALLY met Tim'm West on Saturday! Actually, he (and Steven) are the only reasons I even headed to Brooklyn. Besides, I needed a pick-me-up - my friend Naeem Reynolds passed away just that Tuesday after a long battle with cancer.

Anyway, I am really not feeling this rift between the different factions of Black Pride NYC, especially due to the fact that I'm one of the people instrumental in getting it started in our city. (Thank God for Robert Penn, James Scruggs and camcorders.) But I went and Brooklyn rolled out the red carpet. I had a ball! This has been SUCH a great summer!

at Black Pride, er, Pride In the City's shindig at Fort Greene Park, THINK AGAIN co-editor Colin Robinson introduces contributors Khary Polk and Tim'm West; Tokes Osubu, cute guy whose name I forgot, Steven Williams (cute guy whose name I could NEVER forget!) and other cute guy whose name I forgot

cuttin' up with veteran activist George Bellinger, Jr.; beauty as a community organizer - Ms. Bali White

former GMAD board member David Walker & beau; even mo' cuties: Roderick *swoon!*, James & Terrence enjoy the festivities

Jody Watley at Fort Greene Park ... and at Prospect Park's Bandshell a couple of hours later! Girl, you better WORK!

at the Jody Watley/Donnie show with Drew, Carmen & Sonya

Donnie's background vocalists of LIFE ... and the man himself

Donnie gave it up! He sounded fantastic (he sounded a bit hoarse the last couple of times I saw him) and his band rose to the occasion. I danced to Rocketship and wore my own voice out singing all the songs. (I know the words a little better now ... *grin!*)

I need to hang out in Brooklyn more often to bring some of that uptown! You know, I'm really happy to be living right now - really happy to be a part of this world (despite all the work yet to be done). I think I got a lot of what I'd been missing this weekend. Thank you!

Details baby, details. ;-)

ok i’m a total loser. was totally into some family and writing things this weekend. i see you got to see Tim’m, and I was supposed to get up with him. I’m jealous. Anyway, looks like your weekend was good. And just so you know for future ref, I’m not always on AIM, sometimes it’s my mobile.

Oh yeah, and I hear Ms. Sunbeam has taken to playing girlz parties lately, what’s up with that?

good catching up to you, donald. great site, by the way. I hope you’re basking in the beauty that is BBQ, Boyz, and Brooklyn. I also hope that you find something that tickles in the libido and make your more courageously vulnerable somewhere in the Breath of my work. It was an honor to share a moment. Good, also, to know that you and lynne are homies. She’s sooo the baby mama….

You just make it sooo obvious that I need to make a trip to NYC soon. I am so glad you had a great weekend. Don’t ya just love Tim’m? He is such a sweetheart!

Yes! More, please!

I don’t know how often this is read but I need to get in touch w/ Khary Polk. If you are reading this and you know him, have him email me ASAP.
