It's cold and grey again, so I'm enjoying the view from under my blanket. So, to all you potential employers out there sneaking a look at my blog (on a momentary break from concentrating on my portfolio and resume, I'm sure), see how dedicated I am to responding to my e-mail? Everybody else, don't mind me: I'm just gonna be a ramblin' man ...
You know, I really cherish friendships. To be honest, I'm always trying to make new friends out of people that I find interesting. Some people want to reciprocate and sometimes that takes longer for some people than others. Some don't and merely tolerate a 'connection' for acquaintance sake. And some people lie - or, said less dramatically, withhold the truth about their feelings and/or intentions. And I am by no means the perfect friend, either.
I had two best friends growing up in the Queensbridge Projects in Long Island City and they were Kayeena "Kay-Kay" Jenkins and Scott "Scottie" Jones. After about 1980, we moved down to Maryland and around a bit. I would continue to yearn for those same deep connections that playing together for years can make, but they just didn't happen. So, combined with my burdgeoning sexuality, I really thought something was wrong with me.
Today, I have a family of friends. I have been lucky enough to find some people over the years who I really love and who really love me, in many different seasons. And I really know how to be a friend now. So, when new connections don't quite work out, it's okay - my family is always right there. I feel no shame when I attempt to add branches to my family tree.
Oh, to all my friends and readers, tomorrow Ben & Jerry's celebrates its customers by giving away millions of scoops their fabulous ice cream on their annual Free Cone Day! YAY!
UPDATE: And tonight (4/28) is Free Scoop Night @ Baskin-Robbins! Funny!!!

No shame at all so continue to add them branches, baby!
This fellow Pisces knows firsthand how being “different” can be lonely and painful. Yet, no man is an island. I’d like to bulid my own “friendship reserve” but it’s a practice I am terrible at implementing.
Hi Donald;) I’m looking at your blog to see how you’re doing. Cool photograph…I often take to my bed to contemplate life and friends. I recommend peppermint tea too.
