You Make It Easy

I'm going to make up a new word: chrysalaic. It's derived from chrysalis - "The pupa state of certain insects, especially of butterflies, from which the perfect insect emerges." My word is an adjective form of that state with particular emphasis on the essential nutritive and metamorphic energies of such a state. So, here's a sentence using my word: "My life has been so chrysalaic since 9/11." And it's true - and I'm emerging. That good thing that I knew was right around the corner and just beyond the bend? It's here and it really does feel good.

"You make it easy to watch the world with love."

More about me and how I'm getting shit together later, maybe even this month! *smile!* Here's some things I've been meaning to share:

Music
It all started with Mena's mention, then I noticed it here at work on our iTunes server. Of course, I'm talking about AIR, that French band. They make such dreamy music - especially their first album Moon Safari and their latest Talkie Walkie (on Astralwerks) ... Miss Kittin's debut solo album I Com is kinda fierce (on Astralwerks, too) ... My girl Billie Ray Martin makes an appearance with "Bright Lights Fading" on Slam's EP 3B4 Zero ...

Politics
I hate politics, but this man Barack Obama is an inspiration. Makes Chicago even more of a travel destination! -

Literature
If you don't know, Darrell has been getting some shit off his chest in his particularly well-written E.T. Journal series. And I need to get my copy of my buddy Steven's FUNNY back from my lovely neighbor, so I can write in it. He said I could!

Events
Yes, some people celebrate some semblance of Black Pride this weekend - and that's cute. For them. For me there's DJ Preston Brown spinning hits for The Clermount & Green Block Association's 40th Annual Block Party on Saturday between 12 noon and 9 pm (Clermount Ave. between Fulton & Green)! He used to give away his mixed CD at places like Together In Spirit - if you got any, you already know how good he is. Also, there's the Black Rock Coalition Orchestra performing Songs In The Key Of Life in its entirety at Prospect Park's Bandshell sorry, it's at Summerstage in Central Park (again on Saturday @ 3pm)! You just KNOW they'll have the vocalists lined up!
