A couple of days ago, someone from Blue Note Records told me that legendary entertainer Lena Horne (IMDB link) is ill. They are preparing Seasons Of A Life, a project that features a mix of studio and live performances from 1994-2000. This will be her final recording and will be released later this month. Let's send some love and light her way.
Angela Davis mentioned Lena in a recent interview, saying:
We'd all look for pictures of certain individuals. We'd cut out pictures of Lena Horne and (Nobel Peace Prize winner) Ralph Bunche and paste them to cardboard. Sometimes I have nightmares that I'm back in my childhood again and I have to cut out pictures of Condoleezza Rice.
