Brooklyn, Baby!

Okay, so before I get into what I got into in Brooklyn tonight, I just want to send a personal big up to Miss Shaune Patterson. Because Mr. Waukeen McCoy is in the business of getting Black people paid when Apple fucks up. Honey, if you hear me, I truly could use some more hard drive space for my old Sawtooth G4! *LOL!*

Oh, and while I'm mentioning news, artists and Brooklyn, a little bird told me that Miss Sandra St. Victor is here visiting from Amsterdam! And, remember, she's expecting, so send stuff! Okay, girl, that makes three girls! That's a female triumvirate you got now! Okay, Miss Thing is supposed to arrive in October ... hmm, that gives Sandra plenty of time to bring Daughters of Soul to either Summerstage or Celebrate Brooklyn or something, right? RIGHT?

Okay, now Brooklyn! After work, I hopped on the A train into Brooklyn to catch "Brooklyn" - an exhibit at 101 Gallery in Fort Greene. I am on Lafayette looking for 101 when I am greeted by none other than the beautiful Imani Uzuri! "I don't want to bore you with it, but oh girl I love you I love you I LOVE YOU!"

And WOW! I mean, it seems like it was just yesterday when I met Gerard up at Harlem United, when I first saw those prints of "A Walk In The Park" ... and fell in love with him. It seemed so right and appropriate that a Trini man, another artist, could capture my essence. Too bad he's straight ... but I still love him.

And Tracy! Y'all may have known her as trayc.com having YEARS of summers *LOL!* but she pushed me to capture those beautiful details in photos like she does. She doesn't know this. When I ran into her online a couple of years ago, I knew I wanted to get behind the lens again ... and to be GOOD!

And Bernard, I recently ran into him at the ritual we had for Rashawn Brazell (and I think he's been documenting every subsequent meeting). He's the president and founder of the Fort Greene Photography Organization.

It is SO GOOD to see this going on in Fort Greene. No, I'm not bitter that it would have to appear AFTER I left! I'm not! Let me tell you, as much as I adore Jen Bekman, I got something I didn't get a couple of weeks ago. I may have to show my face in Brooklyn more often to be with my family. Just the energy I needed for Art in Harlem: Faces tomorrow and this idea that's been dancing around in my head ...

Good for you! Okay, yes - I’m a little jealous. You run into all the people you need to meet. How is that?

And a big “Hell Yeah!” for finding Tracy. She rocks.
