The change that’s needed in this country is enormous. That change is not reflected in a state or even a nation ‘changing’ from red to blue as if someone flipped a switch. It’s not just political change that’s necessary; it’s certain aspects of core American philosophy that have allowed us to drop the ball in so many crucial moments during the last 12 years. It’s bigger than Democratic control of Congress and bigger than the potential of any newly-elected official.
Personally, I’m withholding my enthusiasm. Someone who was hungry on Monday is probably still hungry today. Someone who was being denied medical coverage is probably still wondering where treatment will come from today. Troops are still being deployed to this lie of a war. And the many of the same conference rooms filled with white men making decisions for us all are still less than diverse.
How do the election results really affect you?
